Whenever I’m especially excited about something, my first inclination is to text my girl group chat. After that, it’s to share it with my online community. I love to share what I’m into, which is the reason I ended up in this online world to begin with.
With that said, I’m starting this new series called ‘The Weekend Five.’ It will consist of things I’m currently into: jeans, a new podcast I’m listening to, a handbag, a show, a beauty item, etc…. you get the point.
So, today I leave you with the first five from the series:
Earlybird Gummies
I can’t recall if I spoke about these on the internet in some capacity, but if not, here I go. I love these little bad boys. I first learned about them from TIBAL (on instagram) and after her, from Sarah and Missy from my.sister.made.me.buy.it. One thing about me, I love a little THC (in various forms) on occasion. Sometimes, it’s to take the edge off and sometimes, it’s just for fun. It’s not something I get into on social media much, but I’ve promised that this was going to be a spot where I get more personal.
I’ve tried many gummies before, but what’s great about these is that each gummy contains both THC (2.5mg) and CBD (12.5mg). It’s not a lot, but it’s enough. I actually have a decent tolerance, but if I’m looking to simply take the edge off, I’ll eat half 1/2 a gummy. If the kids are asleep and I’m looking to feel extra nice, I’ll eat a full one.
It depends on the time of day and what else I’m doing, but they’re mild enough that I don’t feel compelled to give you guys a “proceed with caution” warning. I don’t find them too strong, but if you decide to try them, start out with half first and see how you feel and go from there.
They just mellow me out, but never in a sleepy/groggy way. There’s no weird gummy hangover, at least for me.
I don’t really have a favorite flavor. I like them all but I should warn (especially after my best friend texted me how she didn’t enjoy the flavor), that they don’t taste like candy, but like THC mixed with candy. It never bothered me, but just a heads up!
Pique Electrolytes
On the complete opposite side of the spectrum, I’m a huge fan of these electrolytes from Pique. We see a lot of the brand on social media, but from someone who has never partnered with them, I’m just genuinely a fan. I like a lot of their products, but it’s these electrolytes that have recently made me get a reoccurring monthly subscription.
The description says that the ingredients, including ceramides, hyaluronic acid and minerals help contribute to healthier, dewier skin from within. While I’m not entirely sure if that’s 100% accurate, I really love how adding a packet to my water makes me feel. I feel more hydrated, Less headache-y and yes, I do feel like my skin benefits as a result. It also makes the water taste so refreshing and delicious.
Bottega Veneta Wallace Bag
The Wallace was a handbag I debated for about half of the summer. I recently wrote an article about my top contenders, but ultimately, this one felt like the right decision for my wardrobe and handbag needs. It’s only been a few weeks, but I’m already so happy with it and wearing it non-stop. If interested, I wrote a detailed post and preliminary review about it here.
Sézane Brut Sexy Jeans
A few weeks ago, I went through a major closet clean out and got rid of all of the jeans that I no longer reach for. Some were too small, pairs I was hanging on to “in case I’m at my thinnest again” (I do not recommend that). Others felt incredibly dated: super stretchy and painted on. The rest: too distressed, a style I’m no longer really into.
I got rid of about 12 pairs, but instead of feeling like I had a lot less to choose from, I felt the complete opposite. It feels so good to have a closet filled with things you actually love and want to wear.
Most recently, I’ve been reaching for this pair from Sézane. They feel fresh and hit the leg in such a flattering spot, whether with heels, ballerina flats, a loafer or an ankle boot. They feel like a pair you’d see a chic, French woman wear. I don’t know if it’s because Sézane is a French brand, but in my head, they feel part of the uniform.
I should add that they run very small. I sized up two sizes!
Jamie Mizrahi styling Jennifer Lawrence
Man, has JLaw every looked this good? This stylish? I really cannot remember her style before, but now, I find myself saving many of her outfits as inspo. Her stylist is Jamie Mizrahi and whatever she is doing, she’s doing extremely well.
Some of TikTok is calling it ‘The Rowification of Jennifer Lawrence.’ While yes, a majority of her outfits happen to be from The Row, they are looks we can all draw inspiration from, Row budget or not.
We get a master class in layering, a play on different textures and an example of how different proportions can do wonders for a look.
There you have the five from this week. I hope you enjoyed!
xoxo,
Helena
Hi Helena! I really like your new format on Substack. On the topic of CBD...I take one 20mg gummy every evening to help with staying asleep. Haven’t tried those with THC. How much of a difference?
Ok, I did a major denim purge earlier this summer. Then again just yesterday. I was never into skinny jeans or ripped denim - i just liked options! but I went from 60+ (I know, I know) to about 30. I have a nice tight edit of 1/2 straight (Levi’s and CoH) and 1/2 flared and wide leg. I have kept one pair of super wide leg/lowish rise at least 16 years. Just bc I loved them. Wore recently and must have been asked 10 times where I got them. (Nordstrom 2007 was my answer.)
What’s the oldest thing in your wardrobe??
Perhaps this ages me a bit, but I have a beautiful Donna Karan blazer circa 1997 that I bought - borrowed money from my mom! It’s still in rotation and still fabulous.
J Law looks so good! And those gummies are so good. So glad you like.
