I’m here out of desperation to get all my Love Island thoughts in one place. I’ve officially become that annoying friend who starts every conversation with, “So are you watching Love Island?” only to be disappointed that most people (in my life) are not. Waaa waa.
I’m assuming if you’re here, you’re either watching or have watched the 6th season of Love Island US. For context, season 6 is the only season that I’ve watched. I also have not finished the season. As a matter of fact, I haven’t even made it up to Casa Amor, but have been warned, “Oh, you just wait!” However, I have too many thoughts circulating in my brain to not get them off my chest at this current moment of where I am - (episode 15: Andrea is gone, Rob is devastated, Leah is trying to win him back, Connor has caught on and is over it, Kordell has been left and three new bombshells have entered the villa).
First thing first, I’m not a big reality TV person. I’ve watched some shows here and there, but for the most part, most of them don’t suck me in. I watched the last season of RHONY because my friend was on it, but before that, I hadn’t watched since Bethenny Frankel and Jill Zarin. I also aggressively caught up on many years of Vanderpump Rules when all of the drama surfaced because I like being in the loop. While I was very entertained, it didn’t suck me in like this.
Keith isn’t necessarily watching Love Island with me. Still, occasionally, he’ll join me on the couch and get sucked into it with questions like, “Wait, so who is Leah with now?” That’s what happened last night, and as someone who’s a creative in the entertainment industry and watches everything with a critical eye, his commentary was something along the lines of: “I gotta say, this is really well edited.” At that moment, I turned to him and said: “Right?! I’m here trying to figure out what makes this show so addicting?” It’s not a new formula, and it’s not the first time we’ve watched hot people battle for love, but there’s just something a little different with this one, and I can’t really put my finger on what it is.
That said, here is a brain dump of the very random thoughts that I’ve been jotting down.
They're all clearly very hot (whether your type or not) with some crazy ass bodies. Every time I watch the show, I think, "Yeah, I'm definitely going to work out more." Granted, I'm old enough to be their mom. I can't believe some of them are 21 and 22!
There is so much lip filler. Listen, I'm all for a little something here and there, but sometimes it's so distracting. I keep thinking, "How about half a syringe next time instead of a full?"
The girls always have their ass out. I'm certainly no prude, but I didn't realize that's the only thing we're doing these days. No cheeky bottoms, absolutely no full bottoms, just full-on g-strings and thongs at all times. They all have some fabulous booties (like wow), but just an observation.
Hannah has left, and you can tell how missed she is! She was so entertaining and seemed like a beacon of joy. I did, however, want to wipe off most of her makeup. So much makeup. So many lashes.
On that topic, I loved watching all of the girls get ready and unready. Catching a glimpse into those moments is definitely part of the appeal of Love Island.
Seeing them go to bed with their hair bonnets, nose strips, pimple patches, glasses, etc, and then the transformation that occurs is absolutely fascinating on a human level.
Are all the "club clothes" that they wear supplied by the set, or did they bring everything?! I need answers.
It was pretty messed up when Andrea got the boot. She and Rob seemed to really have a thing (after three days—lol).
Kaylor and Aaron are absolutely adorable.
Leah was a version of all of us when she commented on Conners skinny jeans. I did feel kind of badly for him, but I also completely understood her. Keith was like, "fuck, do my jeans look like that?"
I hate Aarons's earring. Absolutely not.
Liv rubs me the wrong way. I feel like she has a chip on her shoulder, but I also think it's an insecurity thing.
I love seeing the friendships that are forming.
I felt so sad for Kordell when Serena danced out of the booth and dumped him. He seems like such a nice guy.
The narrator, Iain Stirling, sounds so similar to Alan Cumming, I was convinced it was him at first. I’m into him and find myself laughing at his cheesy commentary on most occasions.
There are so many TikTok rabbit holes I want to go down, but I'm waiting until I finish. I did see that Leah (and Rob?) were on Call Her Daddy and that both of them (especially Leah) seem to be the breakout stars from the show. Is there a reason for that? I'm trying to understand.
So many thoughts, so little time.
There will definitely be a part 2 to this when I'm done, but in the meantime, please chime in on the conversation because I need someone to talk to about this!
I’m am with you on so many levels! Why does this show suck us in?? My husband is even sucked it. We stay up way too late watching some nights!
They make-up, the lips, the clothing…so many questions. So much juicy drama. I forget as I’m watching how little time there passes. I’m like, “they are so solid! How can they switch people?” And like you, realize it’s only been 3 days.
I just finished Casa Amour. Dying. More questions. Can’t wait for you to get to it!
Reading the previous comments I was like, wait - what’s the heart rate challenge? Then I remembered it’s my favorite episode, I watched it twice LMAO. 🤣 After reading some online chatter about S6 I gave it a shot and was hooked from the jump. Casa is CRAZY! Truly loved this season. Can’t wait for your part 2.
