Earlier this week, I spent the morning drinking my coffee and browsing the New Arrivals from COS. What started as a casual search for a trench coat ended in placing an order and jotting down “work on a substack of my favorites” on my to-do list. That wasn’t the original plan, but when COS is good, they’re really good, and when inspiration hits, you ride that wave.
Few retailers, if any, do the mid-tier price point quite as well as them.
For instance, there’s this black, double-breasted coat that I wore all year long. It’s been my most worn item this past year. While it’s sadly not being sold anymore, I’ve learned to stay on top of the new arrivals, as they often have some incredible gems that tend to sell out.
Please excuse the wrinkles, as I'm trying this trench right out of the box, but it's a good one. With the exception of the detachable hood/scarf, it has a very classic feel to it. I say classic because some trenches are a bit more structured and have a heavier weight (which I'm also a fan of). The detachable scarf is a nice addition, but I don't see myself keeping it on.
I wanted to highlight that COS always has great white tees. I like to stock up on a few fresh ones for the spring and summer rotation.
Along with the above pieces, I also ordered the grey trench (#3). I don’t love it. It has this weird sleeve thing going on and doesn’t look flattering. I didn’t even bother taking a photo of it.
For a belt with minimal detailing, here’s a great one that comes in black and brown.
If you end up ordering anything, please report back on the fit.
By the way, did you know that COS is part of the H&M Group? Along with Other Stories, Monki and Arket.
If you haven’t subscribed to my substack yet, you can do so below.

That Khaki Trench! I regret moving to a warm climate for the brief coat weather alone.
